There are a lot of reasons to want a Chromebook or a Laptop with a number pad, but for most people, the number pad (numeric keypad, or simply numpad) is definitely the fastest way to enter numbers.

Most Chromebooks are lightweight, and usually have small displays (14 inches or below), and so there is no room to include a number pad. On addition to that, even 15 inch Chromebooks skip the number pad most of the time. But it doesn’t mean that there are no Chromebooks with number pads out there. HP was one of the first manufacturers to offer a 15 inch Chromebook with a built in number pad a couple of years ago. Since then, other laptop makers got their own models on the market too, especially Asus and Acer, who even launched 17 inch Chromebooks.

To save you time, we’ve selected some of the best Chromebooks with full size keyboard available right now. Of course, this list is not exhaustive, since we will be adding new models as soon as they are available, but also chose not to include some older one, such as the HP Chromebook 15, which came out 3 years ago, and it’s not the best one can get in 2022 considering its price.

All Chromebooks featured in this list have 15 inch displays or bigger, so if you need a small Chromebook to carry around easily, you won’t be able to find a 14 inch Chromebook that features a number pad, except may be the new ASUS CX9 (CX9400), which has a numeric keypad that’s integrated in the touchpad, and which can be activated by tapping a special icon.  If you definitely need a small size Chromebook, but still need a number pad, then you can probably consider buying an external numeric keyboard, that you can use whenever you need to type lots of numbers.

FAQ

Do i need a number pad on my Chromebook?

A separate number pad is a great addition to have, and makes entering numbers easier. This is especially true if you use excel, or google sheets a lot, or if you do any work that requires working with numbers and doing lots of calculations.

However, a separate number pad is not required, since you also use the numbers row on laptops that don’t have one. In addition to that, Chromebooks that don’t have a number pad usually have bigger keys, which some people prefer for typing. In general, it’s really up to you to decide whether you need number pad or not.

Does a Chromebook have a number pad?

As mentioned above, some Chromebooks have a numeric keypad, but not all of them. Most 14 inch or less Chromebooks don’t have a number pad, and that’s because there isn’t enough space to fit one. However, as many users like this features, more and more 15 inch Chromebooks have number pads now.

Can you add an external numeric keypad to a Chromebook?

External numeric keypads work just like external keyboards, if your laptop doesn’t have a number pad, you can easily get an external numpad to use whenever you need to do lots of pure numeric data entry. External numeric keypads work on Chromebooks too, however, it is recommended to read the reviews in order to make sure that it’s compatible with Chrome OS, because  some older models are not.
